A little while ago, I did a post about body parts being sent to False Creek Elementary and Saint George’s school.

Now I hear that the police are investigating a possible link to the Luka Rocco Magnotta case. There are still a few body parts missing. Lin Jun’s head is still missing, and one wonders if it is floating somewhere around the Canadian postal system. I have no idea how on Earth postal workers weren’t suspicious of these stinking passages they had to carry.

While I can’t imagine who else would have sent theses packages, it’s the choice of destination that completely stymies me. Why these particular schools? One school is one of Canada’s most prestigious boarding schools, the other is a small school nestled deep within the dense condo developments of Vancouver’s shorelines. The second school is not that glamourous.

I thought at first that, in the case of St. George’s school, there was an organized crime element involved. A few years back, a female loan shark named Betty Yan had her children enrolled in West Point Grey Academy, which is just down the hill from St. George’s. She was murdered in her car a few years ago, but while she was there, she was an active parent in the school and hosted student parties at her mansion. There are a whole lot of rich people in Vancouver who made their money in suspicious ways. The West attracts crime to begin with.

But the more I think of it, I think Magnotta is responsible. He thought that involving the two national political partied in Ottawa, as well as possibly two of the better schools on the West Coast, would attract attention. He’s probably right.
